so, as you can see, I'm changing up my journaling right now. and it's been so much fun. I've been gesso-ing on pages that were created using scraps of paper and then using pen and then my lightest copic markers. After doing 4 pages I was frustrated by the pen bleeding into the copic markers when tracy suggested I use his multiliners from copic. They are "copic-proof" so now I'm even more excited to play around with the new way of working.
Very awesome pages, Teesha!
ReplyDeleteoh my oh my. You are super amazing talented. wow. just wow. Jaw is wide open here. xooxx
ReplyDeleteooo I wish I was just as "not very good" at drawing and painting as you.... so incredibly talented and unique and intriguing! cant wait to see more
ReplyDeleteGorgeous gorgeous pages Teesha...just love that owl on your front cover...
ReplyDeleteJenny x
You are just awesome in every way! Soooo inspiring and talented. Can't wait to see more!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it nice having a daughter that talks and talks and talks to you. Sweet having established that level of relationship, and being able to listen to them work their way around and ponder the events the are going on in their life.
ReplyDeleteAnd of course Teesha, very interesting pages, it's always intriguing to try on new techniques.
Fabulous as always, Teesha.
ReplyDeleteThese are really awesome. I do love the color of your old journals, but these have a great vibe to them. Love the drawings.
ReplyDeletei love your simple words mixed with all the layers of colors and drawings. so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteFantastic! It's different and still you and that's what it's all about. Keep showing us your stuff ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love looking at all the detail of your journal pages! So inspiring. Thank you for sharing! Was the Vietnamese at the Monkey Bridge in Ballard by chance? Or ???
ReplyDeleteWow, these are fabulous! I love the drawings and the different fonts you've been using , wonderful :)
ReplyDeleteGayle xx
Teesha, I love your new journal! I'm a great gesso-lover, so I just love what you are doing with it - it makes such fantastic backgrounds for anything on any surface. Your hand-made fonts are stunning - and your drawing is not so bad, either...
ReplyDeleteI love it sooo much to look at your journal pages, there is sooo much to see!
ReplyDeleteIrma
This is just beautiful. I need to get braver in my own journaling.
ReplyDeleteHow do you get the text to fit so perfectly? Does it go in before or after the other drawings? Or is it just something that comes with practice?
i love these pages. its all a feast for the eyes!!!
ReplyDeleteit's always a little scary when one starts working towards a new style. but i like where you're going and a see tons of the old style worked in. it's more of an evolution of styles than a flat-out change.
If you are not "good" at drawing and painting yet, I can't imagine what your journals will look like when you are! Your work is always such a visual treat. Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteto susan...yes, it was the monkey bridge. tiff lives on the same block.
ReplyDeleteto carina...yes, I am grateful to have daughters who feel like they can confide in me. I have learned that all they want is a listening ear and not so many comments...and I am a good listener.
to melydia...I do the text last to fit in the space. That was why you see smaller text mixed in...so it would all fit.
and to everyone else...thanks for the confidence boost. I'm in love with this new way of working for the time being but I know it will fade or just morph into something else. I'm not giving up on my old ways of journaling. I simply have these journals I made (and wanted to fill) that weren't working with my current journaling methods. what I am in love with are the light colored copic markers that almost look like watercolors.
Teesha,
ReplyDeleteYou don't need to change a thing...unless YOU want too. Your art, your journals are just awe inspiring. And the best part I think is I see a piece and I would know anywhere it is yours...your style, your art.
Perfect as you are...
Smiles, Andra
I love all the small stuff going on around the main-features! Love that too, of course, but all the sewn details, the layers upon layers of color, paint, collage, more seams, love it! And how you manage to "Theeshafy" everything you make ;-) Just love it! Very inspiring! Oh, you make me miss art-journaling!
ReplyDeleteLike seeing the negative space.
ReplyDeleteBe you 2 Full !
All good things...
Katie
Oh my god these new pages are amazing- and I love the way you draw! Don't knock it- it's your personal style =)
ReplyDeleteoh but it's still very oh so gorgeous in your very teesha way!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing to see an artist as wonderful as you write in her journal that she is not good at drawing. I love your doodle-ish style of drawing, and I hope you don't work too hard at changing it.
ReplyDeleteFantastic Teesha !!
ReplyDeleteI love these new pages, especially that little ribboned bird in the last set. You are moving in wonderful directions!!
ReplyDeleteWOW! Just WOW!!!
ReplyDeleteThese are incredible and the eyes on your second page of drawing are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteYou're such an inspiration and I'm getting my journal out tonight.
how do you attach your pages? i'm doing a frabic journal kinda like yours but a little different.
ReplyDeleteohhh my, this is soo beyond beautiful!!! I love the new pages
ReplyDeleteTeesha these new pages are wonderful! I love the bit of mystery that gesso over top brings...
ReplyDeletealways a pleasure to see your art journal in process...I adore you renew...!!!
ReplyDeleteI really love your drawing style! I think you were ready for a change, on a deep level, I mean,to change something up in your art, or you wouldn't have been ready to hear or had such a visceral reaction to that teacher's comment. Bravo to you for taking it and running with it! I liken it to exercising....it's healthier to cross-train (i.e. do more than one activity or sport--bike, run, swim, walk, play tennis), because that way you exercise more and different muscle groups and you keep them all healthy! If you over-train in any one activity, you're more likely to be injured. Teesha, you are exercising your art muscles by expanding your horizons & crosstraining! As you've said, you may always come back to your favorite sport, but stronger!
ReplyDeleteI agree with an earlier poster who said that it's like Christmas when you update your blog!! :)

You're positivity and creativity has inspired me to make some art tonight! Keep em' coming Teesha!
ReplyDeleteLove the old style, the new style and every style in between!
