re-organizing again

SO...what do I do to relax, you might ask?  I clean and organize.  After tackling the monumental task of registering 450+ attendees into artfest within one week, I set my sights on getting my art room back to snuff.  Besides, I recently had to find room for all my paint when we recently moved from my seattle loft into another loft that will be used for our new project, Artfest Annex.  But more about that in another post.

I think I would win the prize for having the most amount of paint for not being a painter.
After searching and not finding some good shelving for my paint, I turned these cigar boxes into shelving.  I was quite tickled with how it turned out.  I have a local cigar shop who sells these for $2 each.

yes, I go through golden gel medium like no one's business.  many of these are half full from classes I've taught.
My filing system.
what a great feeling to have it all nice and clean again.

  1. I do the same thing to relax! I can't work in my art room unless everything is organized and put away, but about once a week I have to go through and re-organize everything! My collection doesn't look like yours though!

  2. Sometimes I think I enjoy organizing my art room junk as much as actually using it! I just might try that cigar box idea. I bet you could hook them together and even hang them on the wall. Since we are talking organization - how do you store your good pens and markers? I understand they should be stored flat but so far i haven't come up with any solution I really like. Just curious what you have come up with. Or if you'll tell me storing them flat is a bunch of hooey and I'll be off the hook!

  3. I have such a fetish for sorting things by color that some friends gave me a bag of random glass beads with a note that they were for "emergency sorting" when I got stressed.

PS: Love the "Journalfest Brains" part of the filing system.

  5. I don't keep my studio orderly as I should on a regular basis but when I do get the organizaation bug, when I look around at all my things after I am done, it always gives me refreshed inspiration.

Just looking at your studio inspires me.

  10. Wow wow wow! Even seeing your organized space is inspiring... you rock! I'm in the middle of a huge overhaul of my studio space.. thanks for the tip about cigar boxes! There's a recycling center near me that always has huge piles of them on the cheap. And I have the same desk from Ikea -- isn't it fantastic? I love having a huge workspace.

  15. I don't like cleaning and organizing at all, but it's necessary sometimes and I just drool over pictures of pretty workspaces and art supplies. Even my own studio fills me with such a sence of...wealth when I walk into it. Don't you just love looking at your art supplies knowing that they are all yours and you can just use whatever you want whenever you want? ;-)

  29. I am on a mission to organize my art supplies & "art studio" (area!)- yours is wonderful - How wonderful to have a clean surface to work on & to find the paint you want by seeing it on the shelf!! Thanks for sharing- you give so much to us Teesha- you are at the bottom of a great deal of Art being done -you know, someone saw something & used that idea etc. repeating that SSS to the finished piece of Art brings us to the Moores time and time again!!
