SO...what do I do to relax, you might ask? I clean and organize. After tackling the monumental task of registering 450+ attendees into artfest within one week, I set my sights on getting my art room back to snuff. Besides, I recently had to find room for all my paint when we recently moved from my seattle loft into another loft that will be used for our new project, Artfest Annex. But more about that in another post.

After searching and not finding some good shelving for my paint, I turned these cigar boxes into shelving. I was quite tickled with how it turned out. I have a local cigar shop who sells these for $2 each.

yes, I go through golden gel medium like no one's business. many of these are half full from classes I've taught.

what a great feeling to have it all nice and clean again.

I do the same thing to relax! I can't work in my art room unless everything is organized and put away, but about once a week I have to go through and re-organize everything! My collection doesn't look like yours though!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I think I enjoy organizing my art room junk as much as actually using it! I just might try that cigar box idea. I bet you could hook them together and even hang them on the wall. Since we are talking organization - how do you store your good pens and markers? I understand they should be stored flat but so far i haven't come up with any solution I really like. Just curious what you have come up with. Or if you'll tell me storing them flat is a bunch of hooey and I'll be off the hook!
ReplyDeleteI have such a fetish for sorting things by color that some friends gave me a bag of random glass beads with a note that they were for "emergency sorting" when I got stressed.
ReplyDeletePS: Love the "Journalfest Brains" part of the filing system.
Hey Teesh,
ReplyDeleteI wondered what you were up to being so quiet but then I remembered ARTFEST!
Love your new neat and oragnized work space. Wi ya come and do mine now?
Sharon
I don't keep my studio orderly as I should on a regular basis but when I do get the organizaation bug, when I look around at all my things after I am done, it always gives me refreshed inspiration.

ReplyDeleteWow wow wow! Even seeing your organized space is inspiring... you rock! I'm in the middle of a huge overhaul of my studio space.. thanks for the tip about cigar boxes! There's a recycling center near me that always has huge piles of them on the cheap. And I have the same desk from Ikea -- isn't it fantastic? I love having a huge workspace.
