So I have a new artists loft I am leasing in Pioneer Square, downtown Seattle. It's roughly 1300 sq. ft. and it's a dream I've had for the last 28 years. This is right across the street.
This view is looking down the street.
This is looking across at my building (on yesler). It's the middle building.
The stairs to the right lead up to the door I go through.
closer view. right next to a cigar shop.
so this is after the first flight of stairs.
these are the next two (grueling) flight of stairs. My unit is at the top.
so this is the view from the entryway. the landlord is still working on it so there are tools everywhere. Behind that middle main wall is the kitchen and above it is the sleeping loft. To the left, where the light is on is the bathroom with a deep clawfoot tub and shower.
this is a view of this little "room" to the left. it is up 3 stairs and is where we will be keeping all the rubber stamps for mail orders. you see a little of the kitchen to the right. (notice the glowing orbs...more on this later in the post).
this is a weird little platform that looks out the window with a pass-through and counter that leads to the kitchen to the right.
This is a shot of one of the walls...the entryway door is to the right. What I found so odd about this picture and many of the others are the globes in all the shots (seen clearly here). I have heard and seen these in other people's photos who are trying to capture images of spirits. If this is the case, I have a LOT of spirits around me in this room....I already know I am surrounded by a team of unseen beings but this is visual proof!
big windows that open! yah!
'nother view of the cool raised room (and more globes).
you can kinda peek in the kitchen here
this is up the stairs, looking at the sleeping loft. Yes, it is big enough for a king bed.
looking down from the sleeping loft.
looking down again on the kitchen.
this is the view west. You can't see it in this picture but you can see the water.
this is the view hanging out the window and taking a shot down the alley.

YO dog you!!!!! I am all shades of grenn!!!! Congrats!!! Be happy !!!
ReplyDeleteI thought of you last weekend because I took my kids to a photo studio about two blocks away from your loft. Wow, this new space of yours is like ten kinds of awesome. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteWow..AWESOME!!
ReplyDeleteOh Wow Teesha, it is definately a dream come true for you. Good for you to have a place where you can leave home and go somewhere for only making art and arty stuff. Congrats!!
ReplyDeleteBoy did I get a huge pang looking at that! I did a slide presentation for school on the art scene in Pioneer Square. It doesn't look like it has changed too much over the years. What a perfect place to create. Will you being doing open house on gallery walk nights in the summer?
ReplyDeleteThis place is awesome. That weird little platform with windows near the kitchen counter (as you called it) is a breakfast nook. It would be so lovely sitting there at a round table for 2 with a hot cup of joe looking out over the hustle and bustle. (or checking e-mails on the laptop or journaling ofr insporation) Oh, so lovely....congrats on a dream come true....
ReplyDeletecongratulations teesha!
ReplyDeletethat place is gorgeous and you deserve every inch of it!
This is so awesome Teesha. I love the space. I can feel your energy there. And the orbs,,,how cool is that! Already, spirits are there to make you happy.
ReplyDeleteI think you should just move here.
Congratulations!!!
This is awesome!!!!
Can I help you move supplies?
xo...
Oh man, you lucky ducks! I know right where that is. Awesome location and the space is fantastic. I am sure you will do even more wonderful things in such a great space.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
I soooooo love your new space! Congratulations on living your dream - you are so worthy of it all *smiles*
ReplyDeleteDowntown Seattle is a GREAT SPOT! I LOVE pioneer square and you can walk over to the Market for food!! You will make this an extra special spot!!!!! HAve fun with it as only you can!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I will see you all the time--I go to the Exercise Space (lime green door) a couple times a week (Dawn is the owner--super nice). Here are places to check out: Cherry St Coffee (on Cherry St ha ha) for great snacks and a great vibe, and Diva Dollz on the corner by Utilikilt for window shopping. Food joints: go South on 1st for Mediteranean Mix, or take a little walk to Elliot Bay Cafe. The Vietnamese place across the street is ok too. Pioneer Square is a great neighborhood--you will have a blast exploring!
ReplyDeleteWow!!!! No one would be able to get me out of there....ever......especially with all that fun company (globes);-)
ReplyDeleteWay cool!
Teesha - it's beautiful. Enjoy many years there.
ReplyDeleteI am hoping that the globes are not what I think they are: mold spores.
People who were renovating their homes after the Katrina in New Orleans had those globes in their digital pictures.
Looks great - is the toaster museum still just around the corner?
ReplyDeleteteesha, this is incredible, and i can't think of anyone who deserves this more than you.....xoxo
ReplyDeleteI am so so very happy for you.
ReplyDeleteSo are you moving there or will this be your home away from home? It looks wonderful. Too bad there wasn't an old lift so you wouldn't have to schlep up the stairs. Ah well, artist aerobics! Looks like a great space! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteI wish you all the very best in your new art loft. I can imagine it full of your gorgeous work and wonder if you are going to use it as a show room as well as place for giving courses.
ReplyDeleteIt is just so great when your dreams come true!!!!!
Please keep us updated!
The very best of luck from one of your greatrest fans who is as far away as in Denmark near Copenhagen.
Birthe
SO awesome and you deserve every inch of it - congratulations!!! I hope you will post more when you get moved in. It's so fun to see the spaces where others create.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! That loft looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI believe those orbs are your muses waiting you to move in :)
I´m here in Finland working now (in my tiny little working room)with fabric pillows according to your videos... show you when I have something completed.

Elizabeth
Oh, what an amazing place you have!
ReplyDeleteIam so happy that your dream has come true...onward and upward!!
Congrats! I love the space! I love the outside of the building! So open and airy inside! I also love the building in the last picture with the ivy covering it. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteooooh, it looks absolutely perfect! i am excited for you and look forward to seeing more...
ReplyDeletecongrats!
What an amazing raw space. I love it as it is already. And I can only imagine how out of this world it will be after you put yout Tessha stamp on it! So happy for you that this dream has come true.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous space, one could live in there. I can't wait to see it after you've added your magic touch to it.
ReplyDeleteWOW! It looks great! Congrats and may you spend many wonderful creative hours there!
ReplyDeleteOh Teesha - I hate the thought of jealous, but I can't help it. I'm just a ferry ride away (in Poulsbo) and hope I will be invited to come visit some time.
ReplyDeleteKaren
Oh wow!! So utterly perfect and fantastic, I love the urban vibe and can't wait to see the new work that you produce. Congratulations!
ReplyDeleteTeesha,
ReplyDeleteWhat would be really fun, is if you had Tracy set up a couple of cameras, aimed at different spots... and you guys do time lapse photography of the work you do on the space!
From blank white? walls, to the awesome, incredible, bright-cheery, creativeness, that I know you're going to come up with!
Angela
OK, Teesha, that is just too cool!! It'd be fun to find out what the building's history is -- so much went on in Pioneer square. If those are little orb-spirits, they're obviously there to wish you well and inspire your new endeavors. Congrats, Girl! Can't wait to come take a class there!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic space! Do you need an assistant....???
ReplyDelete:-)
How wonderful to be living your dream!!! I know this will be a super creative space for you, can't wait to see where it takes you!!!
ReplyDeleteThat is an absolutely fantastic space! You deserve it, you've certainly waited long enough.
ReplyDeleteThis is my idea of an absolute dream space! Congratulations on fulfilling your dream.
ReplyDeletedon't know you other than through the artful blog links I pick up now and then...your space is AMAZING. SO jealous!!!
ReplyDeleteoh - I am so envious; you have no idea. what a great loft! with all those happy spirits.
ReplyDeleteTeesha - Can hardly wait to see what comes out of this creative space!! Congratulations and have fun! Ginny

ReplyDeletexo
I was just in Seattle last week to visit the grandchildren. I love that part of the city. As a historian I just can't get enough of those wonderful buildings. Congratulations. Maybe next time I fly up (from Arizona) I will be able to see your gallery.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing space Teesha!! You must be so thrilled, it's going to be wonderful. I love that you can have sleepovers in the city if you want to, and the whole space just looks fab, love those vintage brick walls and the wood floors. With the chocolate shop and a steady supply of cigar boxes right on the street you have everything you need :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, don't you find bus/train rides the best for just spacing out and daydreaming? By the time you get to the studio your head will be bursting with fabulous ideas. You go girl.
Wow......how exciting is this??? As i was looking at the photos i saw the orb on the stairs and i wondered "I wonder if Teesha is aware of orbs and if she gives them any validity?" Anyways as i read further i saw that you do! I often capture orbs on camera in fact go in the backyard at nite and call the orbs out.....they usually do come out in droves.
ReplyDeleteMy guess is you'll be surrounded by wonderful spirit energy.
Love, Violette xo
AWESOME!! Good on ya, it's beautiful...I'm so happy for you. Lovely inspirational views!
ReplyDeleteHow awesome! Congratulations!!
ReplyDeleteSoo-weeet!! I love every inch of it.
ReplyDeleteWow what an incredible space! You must be beside yourself with excitement! I know I would be. So much inspiration all around you. What a lucky girl you are!
ReplyDeleteWow! This reminds me of the loft that Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze had in the movie "Ghost" - I guess that the orbs tie into that theme as well!!! Leanne.
ReplyDeleteThe loft looks like a dream come true.
ReplyDeleteWhenever we photograph my 17 year old granddaughter, she is surrounded by orbs. It doesn't matter whose camera or where we are, the orbs are there. This has been going on for years. She loves it. I find it a bit unnerving.
just imagine all of the focused energy you'll be pumping into that loft. all of the art you'll be creating. all of the artful meditation you'll be doing. all of the wonderful experimenting. this is BIG teesha. ENORMOUS.
ReplyDeletei can't wait to see what will come of it!
congrats! Fantastic raw space, can't wait to see how you fix up your studio space. I think I'll have to plan a trip out west. Maybe for a first Thursday of the month! :-)
ReplyDeleteAwesome space! Can't wait to see what you do with it.
ReplyDeletewhat a space, teesha! and these orbs!!!
ReplyDeletesmiling and sending you wishes for all the best...
lynne
Wow!!! What a cool space!!! Good for you!
ReplyDeleteThis is just beautiful Teesha. I'm so happy for you.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Teesha! This will be great space for you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful place. You have some "extra energy" going on there.
ReplyDeleteYou are a lucky girl. This is what I would call living the dream!
ReplyDeleteThe orbs are very cool! I went back over the photos and saw a few on the stairs, and one in the window looking up at your loft (at the top, right?) If they are spirits, it would be great to hear about any phenomenons that you might experience! Love the space - what a find!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations - I just love it when dreams come true! And you make dreams come true for others, so you certainly deserve yours too!
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting the pictures - I worked in Pioneer Square for 15 years - it's such a great area. The people are wonderful there.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad for you! The space is AWESOME! Heck, you won't even have to leave, with that king sized bed in there, a shower and kitchen! Enjoy yourself!
ReplyDeleteHow incredibly exciting! A huge space with lots of light and room to create.
ReplyDeleteYou have the perfect location. The view from all over your place is awesome. Your place is pretty wonderful and spacious too.
ReplyDeleteWow - what a brilliant place - and did I see in one photo your building is next to a chocolate factory ..... perfect!!! I only just found your blog so you must be settled in by now. I like the spirit/globes theory - my totally down to earth hubby says it's dried water droplets on the camera lens that are more/less obvious depending on how the light is hitting the lens - he has no soul!! I like your idea better!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on finally realising your dream.
Caz
DREAMY!!! Wonder what it was before YOU moved in!
ReplyDeleteHello Teesha, very nice! Ive always wondered what they used that building for.
ReplyDeleteDo you know if they have vacancies? Thanks so much.
