some art finally.

I finally finished a painting last night.  made a new journal and wanted a painted cover for a change.   it was fun but a challenge!

Tracy took this photo of me and my mosaic I made at artfest.  Katherine England let me come during the last 20 minutes of class to get a speed lesson.  That night I did it in about 1-1/2 hrs.  then the next day I popped in, in the afternoon to find out how to finish it.  I am so proud of this...I've been wanting to learn mosaic for years.

I posted this journal page quite a few posts ago...but since came back to it and worked it some more.  I really like it now.
I'm liking this just as it is...but feel like it isn't finished.
another page in progress...it all started with the bed I found in a decorating magazine...it's always doom when I actually like a page...makes it hard to finish it

  2. Have always loved your journal pages but I have a question... The lettering you have is so cool! Is it hand drawn? And if so, what do you do your lettering with? I calligraphy pen or brush? I love the thick and thin-ness of it! Thanks..

All your journals are beautiful, but I really have to say this cover is pretty special. I love the colors and the composition - everything. It is gorgeous. I hope you have it on display at Artfest next year as I would love to see it firsthand.

  8. Love the cover - I am so often focused on the insides that I don't decorate the covers. I also am drawn to the very white 'breathe' page.

  9. diana...I use a sharpie poster paint pen (in the extra fine point) and just go over each letter quite a bit.

thanks to everyone else too...now I have the painting bug and want to play with paint some more...I'm just really into how VIBRANT the paint can be. Being much more comfortable with a pen in my hand than a brush, I just need to practice, practice, practice.

  11. I was wondering if you would do a process post on how you journal. I've never seen a journal quite like yours before and I'm interested in seeing how you go about making a page.

  22. I LOVE your work.....I have for years. I once bought all issues of the little magazine you created....all at once ;) It was the best mail I ever got. I've been doing some posts on journaling on my blog trying to get back into it....for some reason I just stopped when I got pregnant. I just started an art journal with my 2-year-old....will be checking back for some inspiration for her and myself!

thanks for sharing your recent work!
