That's a great idea (Kept thinking..hope she doesn't get an itch). It would be fun to make something like that and then collage it..so you have a sort of body collage journal..thanks for the you tube clip. PS one of the reasons I keep cable around is for Project Runway.
Believe it or not... I've done this! BUT not for the use of the body form as a dress form. I've done a ton of environmental design for churches. One year, I used my girlfriend as a model, we made 2 full body forms. I used long thermal underwear as the base and wrapped her in duct tape. We then filled the forms and wrapped them in white gauzy material and hung them from the church auditorium ceiling (which is an old theater downtown) and walla... 2 angels for Christmas! *One tip - don't pull too tight on the duct tape as you're wrapping... makes it hard to breathe!*
What a great idea! I haven't tried it yet, but I think I will to help those simple summer dresses fit me better! I found a link from Threads Magazine that shows 3 other ways to make these forms. How fun!!! http://www.threadsmagazine.com/item/3659/clone-yourself-a-fitting-assistant
I actually had one of these dress forms. My husband taped and taped. When we cut it off, it seemed that it took so much stuff to fill it, that it just didn't work. It needed some support besides what we had. i.e. I just weight too many pounds and the thing was too big to support anything. Gave that up and quit making my own clothes. The ready made works better for me anyway and I have more time to just create stuff.
Love this idea! I've done this before and had a great time inspite of the fact that it was, er...um...humbling (to say the least) to see my own body in 3D. I needed it packed harder than poly would do so I filled it with expanding foam (like construction foam). worked like a charm!!
I love this idea! Thanks...

ReplyDeleteIsn't this gal's dh a cutie pie?!?! :)
What do you have underneath, was it the tank top and shorts. Also, your husband added what looked like toilet paper, so is that what the tape is on?
