ugly journal pages

I don't like either of these journal pages...but decided to show them to you because one of them I showed in a previous post when it was at the collage state. I really hate the way it turned out...I used colored pencil almost exclusively and it just looks muddy to me. But...as always in my journal I learn alot from just doing it and seeing what happens...so that is why I am showing it to you. I guess I do like the color scheme on the black/white/brown one above.
Hey...did anyone notice my new blog header? My oldest daughter, Tiffany is home for thanksgiving so I had her switch out my blog header and put up an etsy banner for me too.

  1. Hi there,

I've been following your blog for a while now and love the way your pages look. And what I've see on the net you are a big hit and many copy your way of doing these journal pages.
I do adore the " Think for you self...". Isn't it like this though when I show my pages to others they usually love the ones I don't like. So taste is lovely that way.
Keep inspiring us all and thank you for a great blog.

    have a great one

  2. You know, it helps us "lesser mortals" just to see that not everything that comes from your hands is something that you love. You do such fabulous work, but it's heartening to know that when we don't like something we've done, it doesn't mean that we're not capable of doing anything better, so thank you very much. (And even things you don't like are amazing.)

  3. Teesha, only you would not like your own work. I think both pages are fabulous, and I bet I won't be the only one either. Yes I love your banners, very talented daughter. Bye

  4. Love what your daughter has done with your new header. Isn't it nice to have a talented daughter? Mine is learning all about tech support for computers YAY! LOL
I love both of these pages, yet I totally understand what you feel here. I just hate it when I don't like something. Come back to them later and I think you might find a fondness for them over time?!
I actually love the color of the second one and especially the dots/circles to the left and above self. My mantra: be original, be authentic. I love that you are both. I'm hoping you will post some of the pages you prepped for travel? I'd love to see the before/after of one or two of those pages.

  5. Hey, I did notice your banner right away! Any tips for how to create one of my own? Maybe you could ask Tiphoni??
Thanks for sharing the journal pages you're not wild about, too. It is good to see someone like yourself feel that way about her own work.

  6. I read on Google reader so I had not seen your new blog banner. Its fun.
I love that top journal page. It has an aboriginal feel to me. Its always nice to hear that fellow artists and those we look up to are sometimes unhappy with their work and even they make "mistakes".. Cheers!
    Happy Thanksgiving!!

  7. oh my goodness...I rarely like what I do...this happens to be extra bad. LOL. Not sure why I am always so dissatisfied...maybe it keeps me wanting to try harder. I do find it important to me to be real and authentic...so that is another reason I felt like I needed to post it all...the "not so bad" to the "pretty darn ugly". anyway...thanks for all your kind comments.

  8. i would have to agree with the comments...i love them both and i can honestly say i have yet to see a TM page that I don't love and wish I could imitate...which is a bit o' irony given the think for yourself page...
even your self proposed 'bad' pages still inspire me and I appreciate you putting them out there...

  9. You might not like it, but I think it's fine. Not your usual colour burst, and I know how that feels, I'm a colour fanatic too, but it does us good occasionally to go a bit sepia, my friend Judy Wilkenfeld, the sepia queen, is always telling me this. I like your new blog header too, must check out your Etsy.

  10. Actually I really, really like the first brownish page. It is great. Love it.

  11. There is a vulnerability in the brown page I find quite moving.

  12. It's so refreshing to know that even you, with your amazing talent, have pieces that you're not happy with...although I adore them both! I think that very fact makes me feel even more comfortable doing what I do.

Thank you for sharing, Teesha...you are such an inspiration and a joy.

    Peace & ♥,
