fun in CA.

first, I wanted to remind you that we will be at the carson rubber stamp convention this weekend if any of you are inclined to come on over. we'll have our new line of rubber stamps as well as collage sheets to match. more info at http://www.astampinthehand.com/

ok...2nd...I had to tell you what we did today. Deb Denton, penguin keeper at seaworld and super cool friend I know through artfest gave us a private tour today and allowed us to stand with the 300 penguins (in the 20 degree freezer they live in), walk with a flamingo (as tall as we were), feed 3 manatees (my hand went inside their mouth!) and I petted some dolphins...oh and did I mention the emperor and other penguins we were able to pet and get up close to??? Tracy and I are in a state of wonder and bliss after our fantastic day.

well...I am in a hotel room right now, using tracy's computer so I'll write more when I get home. just wanted to post about our fun day.

thanks deb. you are as cool as those penguins...no...you are way cooler!

  3. Sounds like a most wonderful day! Molly and I slept in the manatee area once - it was incredible to wake up and see them floating around together. You're brave to feed them - they are BIG!

What a wonderful experience for you. I'd love to have seen it. Being with any animal is wonderful; but those that you are usually only able to look at - wow. I am so happy for you - something great to remember. Also hope that you were able to get pictures. Peace

  6. Hello!! It sounds like a wonderful, wonderful experience!! I have swam with dolphins, and petted penguins, but have never been near a manatee (even though I am from Florida, and they used to be abundant there)...Lucky you!!

Love your blog, and all the art too!!!

  8. Oh you lucky, lucky woman you!!! I am so envious, but of course in the most gentle and loving way. I am addicted to sea world and love the penguins and the manatees. I think you just got one of the rarest of gifts, oh the wonder of it. I am mad for animals, I mean anyone who knows me has to know this. As I am writing this I am literally surrounded by rescued cats. I love to pet the bat rays and the dolphins, we've also done the swim with the dolphins thing but it feels kind of sadly artificial to me. I want them to be free. Beau, my son, and I have done this in Tahiti, Hawaii, at Seaworld, and in Mexico. Mexico was the best, but Manatees, nope never been lucky enough to do that, or get close to the penguins, I just press my nose up against the cold glass.

Thank you for all of your inspiration and art. When I'm blue, (been a tad blue lately, my own health issues, Mom diagnosed with uterine cancer, and boyfriend/lover of sixteen years having serious midlife crisis), all I have to do is come by and seek inspiration and joy. You truly radiate it. Love ya, Jacqui

  9. Penguins and manatees and dolphins, oh my! What an amazing treat. I got to pet a penguin once and was stunned at the downy silkiness of their feathers; they always look like such little greasers and they are *not* at all.
    What a cool opportunity.
